Magibung is an age-old tradition of eating together cross-legged, from the same plate, with relatives or members of the same community, to celebrate an event. This tradition perfectly symbolize the value of togetherness, and friendship.
It was introduced by the King of Karangasem in 1692 AD, I Gusti Anglurah Ketut when he was at war with the Sassak King (Lombok). He invited his soldiers to sit down and eat with him to celebrate his victory. This tradition is still carried out as part of religious ceremonies or traditional events.
We wish to offer such experience to our guests in the traditional Balinese way, sitting on mats in an open pavilion surrounded by natural scenery. Food will be served on a Balinese Dulang tray, rice being surrounded with a variety of dishes places in small banana leaf containers. It can be shared by 3-4 persons.
